Dato’ Ng Koong Sinn, President of the Malaysia Trucking Federation, noted: “The main objective of our meeting was to gather opinion from various operators across the country and dissect key topics that might then go to the rel- evant authorities for action. We also aim to raise awareness of new technologies among our members. Automechanika Kuala Lumpur could actually bring these two aspects together. As for ContiConnect Live, he said it was the next generation of digital solutions for tyre monitoring to complement ContiPres- sureCheck and ContiConnect Yard. With ContiConnect Live, he pointed out that the collected data on tyre pressure and temper- ature were sent in real time to a cloud using a central telematics unit. In addition, the unit transmitted the vehicle's location using GPS and recorded the operating hours of the tyres.
Whereas, he said, the ContiConnect Yard platform collects in- formation through a telematics tracking system to provide the condition of tyres on the trucks and trailers to increase uptime station reader for approximately two minutes to collect data in- cluding tyre pressure, tyre temperature, and sensor information, and to transmit the data to the loT platform. Any tyre issues can be addressed while in the yard. This solution improves safety, performance, reduces tyre failures, and can extend the life of the tyre by as much as 20 per cent.
