We have always wanted to be viewed as an international player and to achieve this we have focused on our R&D. We have realised that whatever products we sell, we must be able to provide value by reduc- ing customer costs, and this is best achieved through good R&D, for example by developing different compounds for different applications to cover the market.

What has been the impact of adding the plant in Vietnam?

We recently started our Vietnam plant. This is closer to the local mar- ket so will have a positive impact on deliveries. At present only some products are being supplied from the new plant, but we are switching over gradually. The capacity of the plant is some 7.6 million car tyres. We are planning to add capacity for a million truck tyres but this is still in the planning phase.

We have done a lot of outdoor testing and have been involved in a number of motorsport events. We will continue to do this in South East Asia during 2016. We are still at the communication stage with the customer, so we will continue to be active in terms of dealer visits, education and presence at exhibitions. We will be attending eleven exhibitions globally this year.

           Asian market this year?

We are continuing to develop our HP and UHP range that is being made at the Vietnamese factory and we will be continuing to expand our size range for the South-East Asian markets. We are also in the process of launching our range for SUVs and these will come online during July and August.
