Bridgestone Chosen as OE for Lamborghini Huracán STO Supercar
Lamborghini has chosen Bridgestone as the tyre supplier for the Lamborghini Huracán STO, a new supersports car set to be re- leased in 2021.
Bridgestone has developed a tailor-made Poten- za tyre for the Huracán STO. The company en- gineered this high-performance tyre so as to be capable of maximising the Huracán STO’s trac- tion, handling, control, and extreme overall per- formance.
The Potenza tyres have been developed in col- laboration with Lamborghini. The key to the tyre’s success in maximising the supersport car’s per- formance is the combination of pattern and cavity design and the use of the latest state of the art technologies.
Featuring an asymmetric tread design for en- hanced steering response and cornering stability, the Potenza has an internal crown structure that distributes footprint pressure evenly when corner- ing. These features, combined with a newly devel- oped tread compound that enhances grip, help to bring the Huracán STO’s track-level performance to road users.
Thanks to a strong collaboration with Lamborghini and its virtual development technology, Bridge- stone carried out its tyre development process to achieve maximum results despite limitations caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Lamborghini Huracán STO will begin pro- duction at the beginning of 2021. As well as the Bridgestone will also be providing a track orient- ed, road-homologated version of the tyre that ap- plies ‘race’technologies to maximise the vehicle’s track performance, especially in dry conditions.
