Camel Power Malaysia Launches First Plant in Southeast Asia
C - in Southeast Asia during the Auto- mechanika Kuala Lumpur 2019.
The plant, which is currently being built in Kuantan, Pahang, is slated to be the largest automobile battery manufacturing plant in Malaysia. Estimated to be fully operational in June 2019, the manufacturing plant would also serve the Southeast Asian, Australian and New Zealand automotive industry.
Group Co Ltd, said, “We are proud to be the largest automobile battery manufacturer in Malaysia. With the manufacturing plant, we are looking at an estimated production of 5 million batteries annually. In addition to that, we expect to provide 600 employment opportunities for the east coast region once operations fully commence in June 2019.
“Camel Power is also currently in discussion with local automobile manufacturers and as- sembly plants to create strategic collaborations that would support localisation plans in the near future. As we continue to focus on sustainable growth locally, Camel Power is looking at in- vesting a total of US$150 million,” he added.
During the launch, Proton Malaysia presented Camel Power with a Letter of Acceptance as
an appointed vendor to sup- ply Camel Power batteries for the new Proton X70 and future models.

Camel Power Malaysia was established in 2017 as a local company that manufactures and distributes automotive bat- teries in Malaysia. Its products cover a full range of automotive batteries for cars, trucks, buses and agricultural equipment. The company is part of the Camel Group of China, the largest SLI (Starting, Lighting, Ignition) battery manufacturer in Asia. Founded in 1980, Camel Group is an integrated high-tech enter- prise specialising in R&D, pro- duction, sales and recycling of advanced lead acid batteries.
Camel products are exported to many countries in America, Eu- rope, Oceania, Asia and Africa. Camel Power also has more than 1,000 dealers, 50,000 shops and an after-market share of 22 per cent in China.
