Goodyear Assurance DuraPlus: A Tyre Engineered to Travel Up to 100,000km
Designed for small- to mid-sized passenger vehicles, the Assurance DuraPlus tyre boasts an improved version of Goodyear’s proprietary TredLife Technology with a new enhanced tread compound, combined with a DuPont Kevlar over- lay for added reinforcing.
According to Goodyear, TredLife Technology could take driv- ers the distance of approximately two and half times around the - bon-based tread compound with higher carbon content provides - ogy incorporated a larger tread width design, which came from an optimised cavity shape, putting more rubber in contact with the road for a longer lasting tread. Finally, a maximised rubber volume provided more road contact area, and combined with a deep tread depth, allowed for more wearable rubber.
The DuPont Kevlar overlay of Assurance DuraPlus increased its durability. Used in military grade equipment, this lightweight ma- terial maintained stiffness and strength under high temperature conditions when the tyre was in motion, giving drivers the added protection against road hazards
“With consumer-driven needs at the centre of all our tyre innova- tions, Goodyear Malaysia is launching the Assurance DuraPlus, the company’s latest passenger tyre for today’s value-conscious customer. We understand that some drivers are looking for a tyre that can take them further with minimal worry. With the overall enhancements in the Assurance DuraPlus, drivers now have a tyre that can go further and provide better protection against road hazards,” said Varinderjit Singh, Managing Director of Goodyear Malaysia.
The Assurance DuraPlus tyre was the sixth Goodyear tyre range that was covered under the company’s Worry Free Assurance Programme, which protected the tyres from nasty road hazards such as puncture, cut, bruise and impact caused during the course of normal driving on a maintained road. The consumer was entitled to a free replacement tyre in a 6-month validity period when damage occurred due to road hazards, when tread depth 6.6mm, Goodyear would credit against the purchase of a new Goodyear tyre of the same size and design.
For the Malaysian market, Goodyear Malaysia was offering the
14” and 15” rim diameter variants, with prices ranging from RM226 to RM325 (inclusive of GST). The company revealed that this new tyre had a total of 43 sizes and that more sizes would be brought it during the second phase within the year.
