Stamford Tyres Opens New Commercial Tyre Centre in Singapore
Singapore-based Stamford Tyres had - ing of its new £15-million Commercial Tyre Cen- tre and Warehouse at its headquarters in Jurong. The centre will support the company’s existing facility at the site and will have a staff of 85 people.
The all-new centre costs £12.2 million, plus a fur- ther £2.8 million has been invested on equipment including six service bays for trucks offering ‘full life cycle’ facilities along with eight loading and unload- ing container bays.
Stamford Tyres Commercial Centre’s 22,591-sq me- tre site, which had taken two years to complete, can store up to 600,000 tyres and increases the com- pany’s overall warehousing capacity to one million tyres. It has also incorporated a tyre retreading plant on an upper level in order to further support the com- pany’s Total Tyre Management businesses in South East Asia.
Stamford currently distributes the Continental, Falken and Toyo brands alongside its popular private brand – Sumo Firenza that is currently available for the PCR/ UHP, 4x4, van and winter patterns in the UK and Eu- rope through appointed distributors. Stamford Tyres’ current global distribution network spans more than 90 countries.
Stamford’s President and CEO Wee Kok Wah opened the new facility on 25th April 2014 and stated that the launch of the Commercial Centre further underlined the company’s position as a recognised pioneering player in the international tyre market.
