The Vredestein Quatrac is the only product in Auto Bild’s all-season tyre tests to consistently achieve top-five over six consecutive years.
Auto Bild Praised the Quatrac for Its Performance and Safety
German automotive magazine Auto Bild has awarded the Vredestein Quatrac first place in its annual group test of all-season tyres. The Quatrac was praised for its “balanced performance,” “short braking distances”, and “sporty and safe handling” in wet, dry, and snowy conditions.
Auto Bild assessed 15 popular all-season tyres in 225/50 R17 specification, fitting each to a BMW 3 Series and subjecting them to 16 rigorous test processes designed to replicate a diverse range of real-world scenarios. After an initial 37-tyre qualifying round at the Automotive Testing Papenburg facility in Germany, the best-performing tyres underwent additional wet and dry testing at the Wachauring racetrack in Austria, followed by snow testing in the New Zealand Alps.
The Vredestein Quatrac consistently impressed testers, being lauded as “exemplary” and securing second place for wet handling, excelling both in wet braking and handling on a circular wet track. It also strongly performed in snowy conditions, demonstrating impressive traction, braking, and handling.
The Quatrac performed very well in the dry, facilitating reliable and effective braking, as well as predictable handling response. The tyre placed second for road noise, emitting just 71.8 dB during an 80 km/h drive and received high marks for its rolling comfort. It also outperformed many higher-priced competitors from leading tyre brands, ranking fourth in the “most affordable per 100km” test. Additionally, the Quatrac placed fourth for durability, emphasizing its low whole-life costs and its status as one of the best-value premium all-season tyres.
Manufactured in Europe by Apollo Tyres, which owns the Vredestein brand, the Quatrac portfolio of tyres is suited to a very wide range of family cars and SUVs thanks to being offered in the widest choice of sizes across the all-season segment. The tyre is B-rated for wet performance, enhanced by a “deep V” tread pattern and larger contact area for improved handling in the rain, and is certified for year-round use via the “Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake” mark embossed on the sidewall.
Impressive Overall Track Record
This latest victory adds to the Quatrac‘s impressive track record since its launch. For example, it is the only product in Auto Bild’s comprehensive annual all-season tyre tests to consistently achieve top-five rankings over six consecutive years. That success extends across Europe, with the Quatrac earning second place in an all-season tyre test conducted last year by Auto Express, the UK’s best-selling motoring magazine.
Yves Pouliquen, Vice President of Commercial at Apollo Tyres Europe, commented, “For over three decades, the Vredestein brand has been recognised as a leading force for innovation, quality, and value in the all-season segment. This new accolade is a testament to the continued efforts of our European-based R&D team, who are committed to developing tyres that provide safety, performance, and reliability across the seasons.”
The Vredestein Quatrac range has been expanded to meet all customer requirements. Alongside the core Quatrac line, there is the Quatrac Pro+ for high-performance cars and SUVs, while the Quatrac Pro EV is Europe’s first all-season tyre engineered specifically for electric vehicles. Each tyre leverages Apollo Tyres’ all-season technology, tailored to meet the demands of its respective vehicle category and ensure optimal performance in all weather conditions.
