Yokohama Tire Dealers Earn Recognition for Excellence
YHI (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, the sole distributor of Yokohama tyres in Malaysia, recently had a Million Ringgit Club award presentation to recognise outstanding dealers and business associates.
Held at the Dorsett Grand Subang hotel in Subang Jaya, awards were presented for the Most Improved Dealer 2017 (Alloy Wheels); with three winners for the Outstanding Dealer Award 2017 (Alloy Wheels) and 21 winners for the Million Ringgit Club 2017.
Yokohama Rubber President Masataka Yamaishi said the company celebrated its 100th anniversary last year and thanked guests for their strong support of the Yokohama tyre brand in Malaysia.
Yamaishi also spoke about the Japanese tyre manufacturer’s medium-term plan dubbed Grand Design 2020, which included allocating more resources to winning business with automakers worldwide as a strategic emphasis on its tyre operation.
“We are cultivating business with not only Japanese automakers but also European automakers, and have secured a growing number of fitments on luxury models such as Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. And we have begun to supply OE (original equipment) tyres for BMW and Volkswagen,” said Yamaishi.
He then highlighted the Japanese tyre manufacturer’s partnership with the popular Chelsea Football Club in the English Premier League.
Two New Advan Series – dB V552 & Sport V105ZPS
Meanwhile, YHI (Malaysia) General Manager Lee Teck Hock said 2017 was a challenging year for the tyre industry with reduced profit margins as a result of lower selling prices and severe competition among tyre distributors.
“However, Yokohama continued its stable and competitive pricing strategy, which reduced the impact on our business partners. Our policy is to continue supporting our dealers with competitive pricing and allow them to make a reasonable profit. We believe that with all your support, we will be able to overcome the challenges,” said Lee.
He also pointed out that the company was launching two new Yokohama Advan tyre series, namely the dB V552 that was renowned for its silent performance and quiet ride, and the Advan Sport V105 ZPS run-flat tyre with Zero Pressure System technology that supported the car’s weight during the loss of air pressure.
Designed to deliver a more pleasant in-car experience, the new Advan dB V552 has a new tread pattern and silent base compound for improved silent performance, and a fuel-efficient compound on the sidewall that inhibits heat generation for better wet performance.
Compared to the previous generation dB V551, the new Advan dB V552 is said to have 20 per cent reduced road noise level and 30 per cent reduced pattern noise. Improvements on the new Advan dB V552 also include 8 per cent better wet stability, 6 per cent better wet grip, 5 per cent better rolling resistance (fuel save), 3 per cent better anti-hydro and 1 per cent better wet circle performance.
The Yokohama Advan Sport V105 ZPS is a run-flat tyre that delivers effortless, agile handling in wet and dry road conditions as well as refined comfort. It uses a Matrix rayon body ply for superior handling and enhanced steering precision, while its Sport Compound 5S and increased groove area on the inner portion of the asymmetric tread maximise wet performance. Its unique Sport Profile Ribs increase stability for more even wear and Yokohama’s Sport Compound 5S contributes to a longer tread life. It features Zero Pressure System run-flat capabilities in the event of a total loss of air pressure.
New BluEarth-Van RY55
The company also brought in the Yokohama BluEarth-Van RY55 tyre for commercial vans and box trucks, which uses a new formulated tyre compound for increased wear resistance, better grip performance and shorter braking distance.
The Yokohama BluEarth-Van RY55 is a fuel-efficient tyre for vans that features greatly improved wear resistance as well as enhanced wet grip performance and fuel efficiency, via a special tread pattern. The tyre also has shoulders with deep lugs and sipes that enhance steering stability and drainage while helping to prevent uneven wear. It is made from a new compound that includes a triple polymer to boost the tyre’s durability and resistance to uneven wear and silica to enhance fuel efficiency and wet grip performance.
Featuring a revised profile, it provides a more optimal surface contact shape and more uniform surface contact pressure. As a result, the BluEarth-Van RY55 is above 50 per cent more wear resistant than the existing RY818 model. It also has a 9 per cent shorter wet braking distance and reduces rolling resistance by 19 per cent.
The BluEarth-Van RY55 is targeted at vehicles like the Toyota Hilux pick-up truck and Hiace light commercial van, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Renault Kangoo.

该公司在梳邦Dorsett Grand酒店的颁奖典礼晚宴中，颁发的奖项有2017年度代理商最佳进步奖（铝合金轮圈）、3个2017年度杰出代理商奖（铝合金轮圈）及21个2017“百万俱乐部”奖。
横滨橡胶株式会社总裁Masataka Yamaishi表示公司去年刚刚庆祝成立100周年纪念，并谢谢在场嘉宾对横滨轮胎品牌的支持。
他也在致辞中谈到横滨称为Grand Design 的中期经营计划 。他指出这个将战略重点放在轮胎运营上的计划，将透过更多资源分配来赢取全球汽车制造商的业务。
“我们不仅与日本汽车制造商，也与欧洲汽车制造商发展业务，并在豪华车款如奥迪、马赛地及保时捷的原装配备方面取得增长。我们也开始为宝马和大众提供原配胎。”他说。
他还提及横滨与著名切尔西足球俱乐部在英超联赛的合作。
两款新Advan系列- db V552 和Sport V105ZPS
友发（马）总经理李德福说，2017年对轮胎业来说是个充满挑战性的一年。在经济和政治不明朗的情况下， 轮胎售价急速下滑。这也引发了经销商之间的剧烈竞争，导致轮胎毛利锐减。
“不过，横滨一贯奉行稳健和有竞争力的价格策略，并加以管控，因此对我们的生意伙伴们受影响的层面并没那么大。在友发，我们的经营哲学理念是要持续保有竞争力并确保经销商们能够赚取合理的利润。我也坚信有了你们的鼎力支持，我们一定可以携手渡过这艰难时期。”李德福表示。
他接着说，该公司将推介两款全新的Advan系列轮胎：那将是Advan dB V552与Advan Sport V105 ZPS。全新Advan dB V552以其静谧的性能和安静的乘驾而见称，Advan Sport V105 ZPS缺气保用轮胎， 则采用了零胎压系统（Zero Pressure System）， 使轮胎能在丧失气压状态下继续支撑车身重量，以一定速度安全的行驶一定的距离。
全新的Advan dB V552的花纹设计，提供一个更舒适的汽车体验，其复合胶料改善行驶宁静度。再加上胎边采用低油耗复合胶料，抑制生热，提供更好的湿地性能。
据悉，与前一代的dB V551 相比， 全新的dB V552的道路噪音降低了20%，花纹噪音降低30%。其他的性能表现也大为提升，如湿地稳定性提升8%、湿地抓地力增加6%，滚动阻力（燃油节省）提升5% ，抗打滑能力提高3%，以及湿地绕圈性能表现提升了1%。
横滨Advan Sport V105 ZPS是条缺气保用轮胎，提供轻松敏捷的干湿地超控，以及精致的舒适性。它采用Matrix人造丝帘布层提供超群的操控，强化转向的准确性。其5S运动型复合胶料（Sport Compound 5S）和不对称花纹内部增加的沟槽面积大幅度提高该轮胎的湿地性能。它独特的运动型肋纹增加稳定性，提供更均匀磨耗。横滨的5S运动型复合胶料带来更长的花纹寿命。它采用零胎压系统。

此外，该公司也将为货卡和箱型卡车引进横滨BluEarth-Van RY55。BluEarth-Van RY55通过导入全新胶料配方，有效提升磨耗表现，同时增加湿地抓地力和缩短湿地煞车距离。
横滨BluEarth-Van RY55是一条省油的货卡轮胎，透过其特殊的花纹设计大大改善轮胎抗磨耗能力，提升的湿地抓地力和燃油效益。该轮胎拥有深横向花纹和刀槽花纹，可提升转向稳定性和排水，协助避免不均匀磨耗。它采用包含三重聚合物的全新复合胶制成，提供轮胎的耐磨性和抗不均匀磨耗，硅胶则强化燃油效益与湿地抓地力性能。
其改善的轮廓优化接地形状，带来一致性的接地压力。BluEarth-Van RY55因此拥有比现有RY818款型高了50% 的抗磨耗能力。它的制动距离缩短了9%，滚动阻力则降低了19%。
BluEarth-Van RY55的目标为丰田Hilux皮卡和Hiace轻型货车、马赛地Sprinter及雷诺Kangoo。
