MAA Expects Sales in June to Maintain at May 2023 Level
Based on data released by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), total vehicle car sales were 61,795 units as compared to 46, 583 units in April 2023, which was a 32.7 per cent increase.
Year-to-date volume for May 2023 was 12.3 per cent higher than the corresponding period in 2022. The rise was due to several factors, including car companies having fully backlogged orders, an increase in national car sales and new model launches.
In terms of vehicle production, figures in May increased by 32 per cent to 64,930 units over the previous year. For the first five months of 2023, new vehicle production was 18 per cent higher at 304, 484 units compared to the same period last year.
MAA expects sales in June to be maintained at May 2023 level as the demand is still resilient due to high backlogged orders, but registration volumes might be slightly moderated.
