ers, which, of course, we are constantly on the lookout for. As a retreader, if you can’t pay for your raw material, you will not be able to survive. Our practice is to to maintain good relationships with both our customers and our suppliers. So, our approach is not to sell cheap. Instead, business with trusted and regular cus- tomers. We use quality equipment from Europe to manufacture our retreads and are one of only two plants in Selangor to use a VMI-AZ extruder builder.”
The company follows a three-tier multi- consist of Mestread, Messave and Mes 5, with Mestread, our premium products making up 30 per cent of production. The Messave brand is our standard product while Mes 5 caters for price cautious casings. We have very good relationship with rubber compound suppliers such as Eversafe Rubber Works Sdn Bhd, Hoong Yeh Rubber Sdn Bhd and GIIB Rubber Compound Sdn Bhd. They are the major players in the market.”
As a retreading expert, Teow tells cus- tomers that they need to diagnose the casing before they retread it. “We then recommend a tread product based on

casing brand and grade as well as our casing selection criteria. The key is know- ing how to pitch the sale.”
Teow is convinced that there is still signif- icant potential for growth in the Malaysian retreading market. “Fleet companies are starting to manage their tyres better and now starting to use retreads widely,” he - um brands such as our brands have a bet- ter perception of retreads. We need to let
the customer know that if want to reduce costs, they need to use retreads. We al- ways point out to customers that in Europe - alise that retreads can be trusted, and we need time to educate them. In such cases we ask customers to try retreads on 10 per result of using retreads. Good retreading can double and even triple the life of a tyre, which will greatly reduce the compa- ny’s overall operating budget.”
