The launch was seen as a testament to one of the company’s many initiatives to help reduce carbon emissions with its customers, in line with Shell’s ambition to become a net-zero emissions energy business by 2050.
“Shell Malaysia is pleased to provide a variety of low-carbon energy solutions to our customers, from electric vehicle charging and biofuels to now carbon neu- tral lubricants,” said Dato Ivan Tan, Chair- man of Shell Malaysia.
“Increasingly, we would work on na- ture-based solutions to deliver high-qual- ity carbon credits that could be used to compensate the emissions generated when a customer purchases and uses a Shell product, such as the new Shell Helix Power 5W. This comes in addition - ducing the carbon intensity of oil and gas operations, and investments in lower-car- bon sources of energy.”
Shell’s global portfolio of nature-based car- bon credits is said to compensate CO2e emissions from the entire lifecycle of these products, including the raw materials, pack- aging, production, distribution, customer use and product end-of-life. Shell says it also works with projects around the world that help reduce CO2e emissions while im- proving the lives of local communities and protecting biodiversity.
