There are three main types of friction material used for the man- ufacture of brake pads. They are Non-Asbestos Organic (NAO), Semi Metallic (Semi-Met) and Low Metallic (Low-Met), and each
First of all, let’s discuss about NAO formu- lations, also known as ce- ramic materi- als. These are used in Bendix General CT and 4WD/SUV brake pads. Ceramic brake pads have low levels of noise, dust, and rotor wear, while provid- ing consistent pedal feel. The Bendix General CT brake pads are suitable for small to mid-sized cars involved in general stop- a n d -
go traffic driving. As for the Bendix 4WD/SUV, it is spe- cially developed for 4WD and SUV makes.
Hardworking vehicles such pickup trucks, vans or cars that do frequent towing or which are constantly under heavy load, would require a brake pad that can resist brake fade, lasts extra-long and still stay quiet. Semi-metallic brake pads such as
the Bendix Metal
King range are highly suited to
hicles. Containing relatively large amounts
of steel and iron, the brake pads are specially designed to be fibrous. This allows gasses that formed during the manufactur- ing process to be released, increasing the structural integrity of the brake pad.
