CAPAS 2019 Sees High Attendance
The 6th edition of the Chengdu In- ternational Trade Fair for Automo- tive Parts and Automotive Services (CAPAS), which opened from 23rd to 25th May at the Chengdu Century New Interna- tional Exhibition & Convention Center in China, concluded successfully. This year, CAPAS hosted 612 domestic and overseas exhibitors, which was a 5-per cent growth, covering a 7-per cent increase in exhibition space to 48,000sq m compared to the pre- vious event. Visitor attendance was also up 5 per cent to 18,916 people.
Pleased to witness another successful edi- tion, James Yu, Deputy General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co, Ltd, commented: “CAPAS once again proved to for information exchange and investment for Southwest China. A series of events encouraged players to stay up-to-date with market trends, gain a deeper understand- ing of the industry and its associated ob- stacles and opportunities as well as expand many services for key Sichuan cities to develop investment prospects. The seven themed zones for this year were Parts & Components, Commercial Ve- hicles, Accessories & Customising Repair, Supply Chain & Chain Stores, E-mobility & Infrastructure, Made in Sichuan and the Tyres sector.
The Commercial Vehicles zone was of our greatest interest. The Emei driverless electric bus, which took centre stage at the Sichuan Bus Manufacturing Company’s booth, successfully attracted crowds. Other familiar brands were Yinlong, CNJ, JAC,
Dayun, FAW Jiefang, just to name a few.
E-mobility & Infrastructure zone attracts leading brands
According to a study published by the German Centre of Auto- motive Management, global de- mand for electric vehicles has grown to 2.1 million in 2018. It also said that China was the big- gest growth driver in electric mo- bility. Sales of electric vehicles in China, including commercial ve- hicles, increased by 62 per cent to a record 1.26 million.
As a leading platform for the automotive industry in South- west China, the new trend was featured by CAPAS through its E-mobility & Infrastructure zone, which played an important role in the show. The manufacture of new energy vehicles and smart cars forms one of the 16 de- veloping industries in Sichuan. As such, the E-mobility & Infra- structure zone was supported by 26 local and international new energy vehicle brands such as BYD, Geely Auto, JAC, Porsche, Roewe, Tesla, Volkswagen and many more. On top of this, the show also saw electric buses and trucks displayed by com- mercial vehicle manufacturers across China.
The zone also welcomed the new Hong Kong Pavilion for New Energy Vehicles. Led by the Au- tomotive Parts and Accessory System R&D Centre of Hong
