Following Goh’s address was the speech from Tan Heong Thong, the Presi- dent of MATRDS, which urged members to be well prepared for the imple- mentation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
“Although the government has announced that the GST will be implemented in 2015, and we don’t know whether it will be delayed, it is important that we are well prepared. If we know how to handle the GST, then it will not af- fect our cost. Several associations, including MATRDS, have co-operated with the Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI), Malaysia Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Department and Malaysian Income Tax Department had organised a talk on the GST on 24th April in Petaling Jaya.
