Jamie Chadwick was crowned champion of W Series with Hankook race tyres once again.
Jamie Chadwick Defends Her Title with Hankook Tyres
With a commanding double win on the final stop of the tour, at the Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas, the Brit successfully defended the title in the series exclusively for women. In the season that just finished, the drivers contested eight races as part of the Formula 1 programme, and the old and new champion Jamie Chadwick won four of these races. On the way to her renewed triumph, the 24-year-old received optimum support from the high-end race tyres Ventus Race of Hankook, who has been the exclusive tyre partner of W Series since its maiden season two years ago.
Going into the final two races of the season at the Circuit of the Americas, the W Series title was still well and truly up for grabs. With 109 points to their name each, Jamie Chadwick and Alice Powell were level pegging at the top. But the defending champion in the single-seater race car gave her fellow Brit no quarter at the final showdown in Texas. With P2 and P1 in qualifying and two wins that were never in doubt, Jamie Chadwick was once again crowned champion of the only Formula race series for women in the world at the double header in the USA.
This brought a successful, exciting W Series season to an end, which after the coronavirus-enforced break in 2020, was held as part of Formula 1 for the first time. The drivers made the most of this exclusive platform in the top tier and put on a spectacular show of motorsport for fans in six countries on two continents. Right from the very start, Jamie Chadwick and Alice Powell were embroiled in a fantastic duel that kept the race for the title thrilling down to the wire. The two drivers won seven of the eight races overall in only one race was Finland’s Emma Kimiläinen able to interrupt the winning streak of her British rivals by getting the win.
The Hankook race tyres proved to be an excellent partner for the young drivers once again. With its dependability and consistently strong performance, the Ventus Race helped the drivers to get the most out of themselves and their car on every racetrack. “It has been a hard-fought season with some great moments in the title battle between Alice Powell and I. Becoming W Series champion is a dream come true and I can’t thank everyone who has helped to make this possible enough,” said Jamie Chadwick.
