The all-season tyre for buses and coaches has been designed for maximum mileage and comfort and will now be released in Asia, after successful launches in North America and Europe.
Hankook Tire Unveils the Smart Touring AL22
Hankook Tire has finalised the global launch of the Smart Touring AL22 as the tyre enters the Asian market, after resounding success in North America, Europe and the Middle East. The Smart Touring AL22 tyre is specifically designed for bus & coach applications, with a focus on comfort, durability and long-term mileage which makes the tyre ideal for long-haul travel.
The Smart Touring AL22 features an intricate combination of zig-zag and straight-groove tread patterns to ensure a solid straight-line driving performance at all times. Its tread also features an optimized central rib for low rolling resistance and handling stability to ensure maximum mileage and handling performance.
The pattern is also structurally arranged in a way that significantly reduces rolling noise, resulting in a more comfortable ride, even acquiring the highest grade in the PBN (pass-by noise) level, based on the European regulations.
Due to the tread compound, which is a black carbon compound in a polymeric structure the tyre offers enhanced abrasion resistance and fuel savings. Furthermore, a special Multi-3D Kerf guarantees both good traction and an outstanding braking response at high speeds.
Hankook Tire Extends Its OE Portfolio
Hankook Tire is expanding its original equipment (OE) portfolio in the commercial vehicle segment. Recently, the company released its first-ever dedicated electric bus tyre Smart City AU06 in 2020. This innovative urban bus tire features a block design, which is modelled after electric circuits and is equipped with innovative technology to increase the efficiency of electric buses.
“The characteristics of the Smart Touring AL22 not only allows maximum travel comfort for passengers but also maximises driving and handling comfort for the driver,” says Sooil Lee, President and CEO of Hankook Tire & Technology. “We aim to target the global bus tyre market with our AL22 for regional and long-distance travel, the AU04 for short distances and downtown drive, and the AU06 for the electric bus market.”
