After a successful debut season of the Zhuhai Formula Racing Development (FRD) LMP3 Series across China, it was rebranded as the China Endurance Series to gear up for 2018. Featuring some of the most exciting 4-wheel categories, namely LMP3 (Le Mans Prototype cars powered by Nissan engines), Renault Clio Cup Asia Series and Asian Formula Renault, the series gathered a strong following on social media and participation from race teams.
Motul Elevates LMP3 Racing Experience in China
Organised by FRD and certified by the Federation of Automobile and Motorcycle Sports of the People’s Republic of China (CAMF), the excitement is expected to grow further as the China Endurance Series extends to the newly-built Ningbo International Speedway and Zhengzhou International Circuit.
With Motul’s 300V Power 5W40 being the recommended lubricant for the Nissan LMP3 420bhp naturally-aspirated engine, Motul says it is an instinctive decision for the company to become China Endurance Series’ Official Lubricant Partner.
Motul’s long-standing involvement in endurance racing as well as its existing Official Lubricant Partner status at the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans has established its lubricants as the reference on the racetracks. This ‘invaluable knowledge’ had since been translated to an accessible range of automotive products for the everyday commuter.
The association with the China Endurance Series reinforces Motul’s passion to extend its authority among automotive lubricants in China.
The 2018 calendar would feature five rounds across China, each with two races: Round 1-2 at Shanghai International Circuit from 27th to 29th April, Round 3-4 at Ningbo International Speedway from 25th to 27th May, Round 5-6 at Zhuhai International Circuit from 6th to 8th July, Round 7-8 also at Zhuhai International Circuit from 14th to 16th September and Round 9 -10 at Zhengzhou International Circuit from 19th to 21st October.
Claire Lim, Chief Marketing Officer, High-Tech Lubricants AP Pte Ltd, said: “With the growing interest in motor sports in China, it is only fitting for Motul to be part of this thrilling and ever-changing scene. After a successful first season, FRD has proven to be a great motor sport event partner. We are excited to see what’s in store for the second season!”
Kenneth Ma, Founder, Zhuhai Formula Racing Development, said: “I am very pleased to continue the relationship with Motul and expand our partnership from the prototype series to the Clio Cup Asia Series. Motul is actively involved in locally- and internationally-recognised motor sport events. We look forward to seeing them on our cars as an associate sponsor for many years to come.”
