Point S, an independent retailing group, has opened an office in Singapore as part of its global expansion programme and appointed tyre industry veteran Ler Hwee Tiong as Chief Representative.
Point S Establishes Presence in Singapore, Names Ler Hwee Tiong as Chief Representative
The recent official opening of Point S Asia in Singapore marked its ambitious drive to be a leading global retailing group. Located within the French Chamber of Commerce in the city centre, the office would coordinate activities within the Asian region.
The appointment of Ler as Chief Representative is said to signify another important move in the group’s global ambitions.
Ler, with more than 21 years in the tyre industry, held key and executive roles in several large tyre companies before venturing out in 2008 to co-found Asia’s first tyre ecommerce site, Tyrepac.
Ler would coordinate Point S activities in the Asian region and assist in the further expansion of Point S beyond the recently announced Malaysia and India markets.
“I am pleased to be associated with Point S’s development in Asia. The one and only truly global retailing group that I know, with presence in Canada, United States, throughout Europe, Africa, and now Asia. An impressive achievement in a short 40 odd years, with combined revenue now in excess of 3 billion Euro, and selling in excess of 16 million tyres annually in 32 countries, with more than 3,400 retailing points,” says Ler.
Point S says its push into Asia would be ‘patient’ and adapted to the local working environment of each market.
“First, we are pleased to have Ler as part of Point S’s push into Asia. His impressive experience and successes in Asia is widely acknowledged. We will be patient and adaptive to each and every market in Asia, and not expect to simply photocopy our past successes. We are also taking this opportunity to invite all interested candidate to become part of the Point S family. We believe firmly that Point S is the first truly global tyre retailing company and will continue to set ambitious target going forward,” says Fabien Bouquet, CEO of Point S Development.
