New Ecsta Models Built on Our Technological Advacements – Kumho Tire President
Kumho Tire has officially introduced two new ultra-high performance tyres to its European Ecsta lineup: the Ecsta Sport and the Ecsta Sport S. Developed at the Kumho Europe Technical Centre (KETC) between 2021 and 2024, the newly introduced models take the best qualities of their predecessors, the Ecsta PS91 and Ecsta PS71.
These new tyres are engineered to meet the high-performance demands of powerful vehicles. With enhanced durability for agile, precise handling and an optimized tread rib design for greater high-speed stability, the Ecsta Sport and Ecsta Sport S deliver exceptional control. Not only that, the tyres also offer improved mileage and energy efficiency.
According to Kumho Tire‘s official statement, the tyres “strengthen Kumho’s status as a high-end brand in the European and global markets”, especially the Ecsta Sport S, which has proven to be the best tyre in its class.
In a 2024 TÜV SÜD test, which included five comparable tyres from other major manufacturers, the Ecsta Sport S delivered better performance than its competition. It outperformed other tyres in major criteria, including braking and handling on dry and wet roads, and delivered a slightly higher performance in straight-line driving on rain-covered surfaces. Founded in Germany in 1866, TÜV SÜD is a globally renowned authority in testing and certification.
The entire Kumho Ecsta range, including the Ecsta Sport and Ecsta Sport S, is designed to be EV-compatible. Kumho’s proprietary EV technology enhances abrasion resistance and noise reduction, ensuring optimal performance. Select sizes feature the K-Silent system, which uses polyurethane foam inside the tread to reduce cavity and road noise. Additionally, several sizes are reinforced for HL (high load) capacity to support the increased weight of electric vehicles.
