UMW Grantt International Sdn Bhd launched the latest addition to its product line-up, the all-new Grantt Stellar 8000 SAE 0W-20 API SN Plus Fully Synthetic engine oil. It is the first of its kind lubricant that is formulated with Knock Guard Technology for Low Speed Pre-Ignition (LSPI) Protection.
Grantt Stellar 8000 Arrives
This Grantt Stellar 8000 SAE 0W-20 is said to provide ultimate protection, performance and fuel economy in TGDI/GDI engines; providing users with LSPI protection, cleaner engines and better fuel saving.
“With more car manufacturers developing engines that are increasingly smaller, more efficient, more advanced and at the same time more powerful; this also creates more extreme operating conditions, especially for turbocharged gasoline direct-injection (TGDI) engines. This makes today’s engines more susceptible to Low Speed Pre-Ignition (LSPI) that causes internal engine damage and lead to engine failure. The Grantt Stellar 8000 SAE 0W-20 was engineered with this in mind to give drivers outstanding LSPI protection,” said Megat Shahrul Azmir Nordin, President of Manufacturing & Engineering (M&E) Division, UMW Corporation Sdn Bhd.
According to the company, the all-new Grantt Stellar 8000 SAE 0W-20 delivers more than 80 per cent better engine protection against wear and tear. With its unique antioxidant additives to control oil thickening, the formula results in better flow to critical parts throughout the oil drain interval. This offers protection during cold engine start at low temperatures, while retaining viscosity benefits at higher temperatures and operating conditions. Its advanced dispersant and detergent system helps to prevent sludge formation and varnish deposits for cleaner and efficient engine performance. Combined with the low viscosity oil, users could expect extra fuel savings.
The UMW group has been dealing with lubricants for about 50 years with an in-house lubricant blending plant. Leveraging on the vast experience of partnering with major players in the lubricant industry, the company decided to venture into this sector and a new brand – Grantt was born in 2014.
Grantt was created to meet the highest international standards with cutting-edge technology and innovative formulations. For the highest level of protection and performance, stringent tests and analysis are conducted at the company’s certified ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory. Grantt’s commitment in producing products of ‘exceptional quality’ is supported by the use of American Lubricant Technology in the research and development phases. In addition, Grantt is said to have surpassed the American Petroleum Institute (API) as well as the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) and key OEM requirements.
To date, Megat said the company had more than 40 distributors and about 200 Grantt dealers in the local market as well as a presence in 9 countries in Southeast Asia. The retail price for the all-new Grantt Stellar 8000 SAE 0W-20 is RM199 (4 litres) for Peninsular Malaysia.
In conjunction with the launch, Grantt also introduced other new automotive solutions –
Grantt Quasar SAE 10W-40 API CI-4/SL mineral engine oil, Grantt Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) – Grantt ATF CVT and Grantt ATF WS (World Standard).
