In its latest summer tyre test, the editors of the German car magazine Auto Zeitung have named Continental’s PremiumContact 7 the “shining winner” (issue 7/24). It achieved the highest score in both wet and dry driving tests. The experts at Auto Zeitung tested nine tyres in the size 225/45 R 17 on a BMW 120i, covering a total of 13 criteria. The test included products from European, Asian and American tyre brands.
The PremiumContact 7 came out on top of the test field thanks to its safe handling characteristics on both wet and dry roads. It achieved the shortest stopping distances on both surfaces and was 5.1 metres away from the worst performing tyre in the wet braking test. The car equipped with these tyres would still have had a residual speed of 30 km/h at the stopping point of the Continental-equipped car, the editors write. In their summary, the editors emphasised the “superior performance in all conditions” delivered by the PremiumContact 7. Its safety and comfort were “beyond doubt”.
The tyre size 225/45 R 17 is suitable for cars from compact to upper mid-size. The PremiumContact 7 from Continental is available in various sizes between 16 and 21 inches in diameter with widths between 205 and 285 millimeters and cross-sections between 60 and 35 percent. It is suitable for electric cars, hybrids as well as cars and SUVs with internal combustion engines and has a special EV-compatible logo marking on the sidewall.
