Successfully capping off a USD 56 million investment, BKT has opened its new plant in the state of Maharashtra, India, which is capable of producing 30,000 mega-tonnes (MT) of Off-Highway tyres per year.
BKT Starts Trial Production at Its Giant Production Plant
With a capacity of 30,000 MT per year, the new production plant will have a staff of around 500 when it reaches full capacity. For now, trial production is taking place on medium and small diameter tyres designed for machines operating in the agricultural and industrial industries. Starting the product which coincided with the Covid-19 pandemic, BKT wants the plant to be a testament to its mantra, ‘it can be done.’
BKT has opened this plant for two strategic reasons: to enhance production and make its operations more efficient. With the new greenhouse plant spread over 22 acres, the site is just 5 kilometres from BKT’s original production facility in Waluj, which the company opened in 1987.
BKT plans to ensure the plant can deliver a cutting-edge reorganisation of departments, as well as its overall workflow from a structural and mechanical point of view in wide-reaching plans for the production plant’s future.
