Messe Frankfurt is pleased to announce that Automechanika Kuala Lumpur will become an annual event from 2024 onwards.
Automechanika Kuala Lumpur Focuses on Creating a Robust EV Ecosystem
In response to the accelerated economic growth, increased electric vehicle (EV) adoption, and rapid industrial transformation, Messe Frankfurt is pleased to announce that Automechanika Kuala Lumpur will become an annual event from 2024 onwards. This move signifies a significant milestone for the automotive industry, offering a platform for trade and showcasing innovations. The next edition is scheduled from 1st to 3rd August, 2024, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
Fiona Chiew, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, said: “The decision for Automechanika Kuala Lumpur to become an annual event was based on feedback from government bodies, industry associations, exhibitors and visitors. Malaysia’s New Industrial Master Plan 2030 was a reoccurring theme in our extensive discussions, where the EV sector is set to play a critical role over the medium to long term. Therefore, with all corners of our network converging at the show, I believe we can navigate these changes together.”
The strategic direction reflects the growing global focus on sustainability, technological innovation, and solutions for mobility and logistics across the automotive industry. Many renowned brands have recently entered the Malaysian market, such as Proton‘s agreement with Smart Automobile, Tesla‘s introduction of multiple models, and BYD‘s strong presence through a partnership with local distributor Sime Darby Motors.
Chiew highlighted that the annual Automechanika Kuala Lumpur will provide faster access to marketing opportunities, training, information sharing, and business exchange. It aims to keep pace with the rapidly evolving automotive industry and introduce the latest innovations to the local market while enhancing Malaysia’s influence in the regional automotive supply chain.
The upcoming event will feature specialised zones focusing on creating a robust EV ecosystem within the existing automotive industry. Themes will centre around the transformation of auto parts & components, manufacturing, accessories and customising, and repair and maintenance.
The Mobility & Logistics Solutions Zone (new) will dive into the latest provisions for urban development, city planning and smart mobility. Solutions are being heavily driven by electrification and digitalisation in the pursuit of an efficient supply chain, higher customer satisfaction and sustainable future.
The Commercial Vehicle & Fleet Zone will cater to traditional commercial vehicles like buses and trucks, as well as introduce other types of fleets like motorcycles, cars and light vehicles, reflecting the growing demand for e-commerce, ridesharing and food delivery services.
Meanwhile, the Auto Repair, Maintenance & Care / Accessories & Customising Zone will be a key spot for aftermarket players featuring diagnostics technology, specialised equipment and tools for mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance, car washing, detailing and customisation as well as oil and lubricants.
Each zone will be paired with a related fringe event, which aims to create an industry-wide dialogue in Malaysia and ASEAN. Additionally, autoFEST@KL will return with a diverse range of events, attracting a wider audience and allowing deeper engagement with exhibitors. In addition to a series of activities like the Auto NITZ Music Party and DIY Workshops, Automechanika Kuala Lumpur will extend the EMMA Malaysia showcase by exhibiting a whole new range of motorsports and classic cars at the upcoming show.
