Cupra Terramar “A Perfect Match” for Ventus evo SUV
The new Cupra Terramar will come out of the factory sporting the Hankook Ventus evo SUV tyres, Hankook announced on Thursday, April 3, 2025.
The Ventus evo SUV will be available for the Terramar is three different sizes: 18, 19, and 20 inches. While the 18- and 19-inch tyres are designed for high driving comfort, the “sportier” 20-inch tyre is optionally available for the top-of-the-range Terramar models with high-performance plug-in hybrid technology.
All Ventus evo SUV tyres bear the “+” symbol on the sidewall, meaning they are Cupra’s original equipment. The tyres will also be distributed through replacement dealers.
“With the Terramar, Cupra is showing that family friendliness and sporty performance can go hand in hand. It is a perfect match for our Ventus evo SUV premium summer tyre, which masterfully transfers the engine performance and sporty handling to the road,” said Klaus Krause, Vice President and Head of Europe Technical Center at Hankook.
“The collaborative partnership with Cupra on the tyre development is reflected in the optimum match for each tyre size. This enabled us to make an essential contribution to the sporty performance of the latest addition to the Cupra family,” he added.
Thoughtfully Developed
Hankook developed the Ventus evo SUV for two years and, during that period, the company focused on refining the sporty handling characteristics of the tyre without having to compromise on its low noise level.
The development team used a mix of tread materials to achieve quiet rolling characteristics by “thoughtfully” engineering the tread design. At less than 66 decibels, the Ventus evo SUV is even below Cupra’s own manufacturer’s specification of 68 decibels.
The Ventus evo SUV also has the Opti Pitch technology, geared towards the ideal size and positioning of the tread blocks, and the Kerf design, aimed at minimising noise level.
Meanwhile, the Dual Pitch technology ensures the optimum number of blocks on the inside and outside of the tread for maximum steering precision when cornering without neglecting the requirements for a low-noise tread pattern.
Additionally, the tread height was adjusted to reduce noise without compromising traction, braking behaviour, cornering stability, or maximum mileage.
Each tyre version for the Cupra Terramar has been tested in various environments from a test bed, a bump and vibrating track, even in the Nürburgring Nordschleife to measure its endurance.
The new Ventus evo SUV is produced exclusively at Hankook‘s “ultra-modern” European site at Rácalmás, Hungary. All sizes of the tyre are available in all sales markets for the Cupra Terramar.
